Phoebe is a Principal Associate of the firm who is qualified as an Advocate and Solicitor in the High Court of Malaya and a Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln’s Inn) in England & Wales. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (with Honours) from the University of Liverpool as well as a Master of Laws degree (LL.M).

Phoebe has experience in a broad range of civil and commercial disputes. Over the years, she has actively assisted and provided legal advice on matters involving contractual and company disputes, defamation, trespassing on properties, debt recovery, judicial review against public authorities, as well as construction adjudication and litigation. Her client base includes multinational corporations, publicly listed companies, and small-medium enterprises. She has appeared as Lead Counsel in the High Court and Court of Appeal, and as Co-Counsel at the Federal Court. Several of the cases that Phoebe has worked on was also widely reported in the media. 

Phoebe is a contributor to the chapter on “Defamation” of Bullen & Leake & Jacob’s Malaysian Precedents of Pleadings and is also a contributing editor to the Annotated Statutes of Malaysia for the Defamation Act 1957.

Team Members

  • Successfully represented residents of Taman Tun Dr Ismail in an application for judicial review to quash a development order granted by the Datuk Bandar of Kuala Lumpur.
  • Successfully represented a main contractor in defending an adjudication claim for RM2.8million, in which the sub-contractor’s claim was also zeroised.
  • Successfully represented a property holding company in defending a claim brought by a mineral extraction company for the sum of RM10.8 million.
  • Successfully represented a well-known food and beverage company for an online defamation claim in which the High Court awarded RM150,000.00 as damages.
  • Successfully represented an individual against a claim brought by the Malaysian Highway Authority to recover the sum of RM3.5 million which was paid pursuant to a compulsory land acquisition.
  • Successfully represented a well-known beverage company in a legal proceeding filed to challenge the appointment of a liquidator in a creditor’s voluntary winding up.
  • Successfully represented an individual in striking out a defamation claim. This decision was later affirmed by the Court of Appeal.  
  • Successfully represented a sub-contractor to obtain an injunction against the main contractor of a construction project to restrain the release of the sums guaranteed under a performance bond.
  • Successfully represented a sub-contractor in adjudication proceedings initiated to claim for payment for work done in the sum of RM2.6million.
