Last Saturday, the CSR team at Thomas Philip organized a CSR program in collaboration with the Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni orphanage located in Keramat, Kuala Lumpur. The orphanage is home to 20 children and is overseen by 5 caretakers. The children, aged between 4 to 6 years, come from diverse backgrounds but share a close and kind-hearted bond with each other.

Thomas Philip extended an invitation to the children and their caretakers from Pusat Jagaan Kasih to join them for lunch at Barrister’s Brew Café in Desa Sri Hartamas. The CSR team had planned numerous activities to uplift the spirits of the young ones.

The children arrived at Barrister’s Brew by 10 AM, commencing the day with an ice-breaking session. Icebreakers were used as a quick and effective means for the kids to befriend five CSR team members: Aina, Asyura, Sabrina, Didi, and Aisyah.

Throughout the activities, CSR team members encouraged the children to learn and converse in English, bringing them joy as they grasped the basics of self-introduction in English. Sabrina led a captivating storytelling session in English, selecting the book "Margad and Anand," which the kids found highly engaging and interactive.

Andrea, one of the lawyers from Thomas Philip, was invited to talk about her career in simple terms understandable to the children. This excited the kids, providing them with insight into a profession different from the typical roles they were accustomed to hearing about, such as doctors, teachers, and nurses.

Post the informative talk, the children engaged in physical exercises with all CSR team members, involving jumping, clapping, and laughter. Following this, they participated in a coloring activity, grouped into five with one CSR team member assisting each group. The coloring session lasted 20 minutes before transitioning to the 'Jump On Hulaa Hoop' game, facilitated by Asyura. The game required the kids to hold two balloons while jumping from one hula hoop to another, generating excitement and happiness among them.

For lunch, the children and caretakers were served a delicious meal prepared by the chef at Barrister’s Brew. The food received positive feedback from the kids, who eagerly went for seconds. Additionally, they were treated to desserts like fruit tarts and ice cream.

To conclude the event, each child received a goodie bag containing stationery and colors, a set of "Margad and Anand" storybooks (sponsored by the author, Margad), snacks, and a drink. The CSR team hoped that the children thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the event and their interactions with the team.
