On 9th December 2023, the CSR team at Thomas Philip organized a CSR program in collaboration with the Pusat Jagaan Rumah Kesayangan, an orphanage located in Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur. The orphanage is home to 20 children and is overseen by 4 caretakers. The children, aged between 9 to 4 years, come from diverse backgrounds but share a close and kind-hearted bond with each other. Thomas Philip staffs - namely Asyura, Didi, Sabrina, and Ain - also joined in on the event and entertained the kids.

Thomas Philip extended an invitation to the children and their caretakers from Pusat Jagaan Rumah Kesayangan to join them for lunch at Barrister’s Brew Café in Desa Sri Hartamas. The CSR team invited Stanley Clown for their fantastic clown service to entertain the kids and planned numerous activities to uplift the spirits of the young ones.

Athirah, one of the pupils from Thomas Philip, was invited to talk about the lawyer profession in simple terms understandable to the children. She also showed the kids the photos of courts, dress code of a lawyer and responsibility of being a lawyer. This excited the kids, providing them with insight into a profession different from the typical roles they were accustomed to hearing about, such as doctors, engineers, and nurses.

After the informative talk, the children engaged in physical exercises with the clown and all CSR team members, involving jumping, clapping, and laughter. The clown also entertained the kids with his magic show that involved animals for the kids to pet such as a black rabbit and a white dove. The kids were heartily excited for having the opportunity to touch and pet the animals. The clown also entertained the kids with balloon twisting with various of shapes like a bracelet, animals, heart shape and so on. Each of the kids was gifted one balloon twisting in the shape they wanted, and this brought excitement and happiness among themselves. 

For lunch, the children and caretakers were served a delicious meal prepared by the Head Chef Amirul of Barrister’s Brew. The food received positive feedback from the kids, who eagerly went for seconds. Additionally, they were treated to desserts like fruit tarts, green grapes, and brownies. 

To conclude the event, each child received a goodie bag that full of cute things that sponsored by Thomas Philip. TP CSR Team also collected preloved clothes from TP staffs who wanted to donate for this charity a week before the event and surprisingly the orphanage received 20 bags of preloved clothes and toys to bring home. The CSR team hopes that the children thoroughly enjoyed moments of the event and had enriching interactions with us.
