Pupils in Chamber

Pupils in Chamber

Each year, we carefully select outstanding students for Pupillage, towards retention as Associates in the firm.

We recruit from the top law schools in Malaysia and overseas, looking for bright and independent candidates with strong academic skills, who have a passion for dispute resolution and are ready to assume responsibility early in their legal career. They will be exposed to all aspects of the practice, and have opportunities for meaningful client and courtroom experiences, to learn and grow as a lawyer. They must be highly motivated, ready to learn and have the highest ethical and professional calibre.

To apply, please e-mail your resume to careers@thomasphilip.com.my, with your SPM/STPM (or equivalent) results, University transcripts, other internship or work experience, extra curricular activities and any additional information that you may consider relevant.

“Chambering at Thomas Philip debunked the myth that work-life is nothing near fun. Thomas Philip gave me the challenges to out-perform, the opportunities to excel, the passion to succeed, and most importantly that winning feeling.”

University of Malaya, Class of 2010.

“I’ve always believed in starting right on a career path and I’m glad to know that I’ve made the right choice with Thomas Philip. Pupillage at Thomas Philip gave me a platform to achieve goals beyond what I thought I was capable of. My passion for litigation and arbitration are renewed every day that I am here.”

“Pupillage at Thomas Philip is truly an amazing experience, not only because of the exposure to different types of work, but also because of the support you will get for your individual growth. I am a believer in giving back to society, and throughout my pupillage, Thomas Philip has actively encouraged all Associates to make time for pro-bono work. The firm has also welcomed my ideas for charity events and commits time and resources in support of this.

It’s rare to find a firm that would be this supportive of its members, their personal and professional growth, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.”

“Apart from the exposure to the various practice areas of dispute resolution in Malaysia, I was also given the opportunity to experience first-hand, the working environment in one of the largest law firms in Singapore. The all-expenses paid overseas attachment organised by Thomas Philip was definitely a fitting finale to my pupillage. This one-week stint gave me a regional perspective of our global legal fraternity and broadened my appreciation of the fundamentals of a career in law. I am grateful for this gift, as this opportunity might not have presented itself elsewhere.”

University of Bristol, Class of 2010.

“To say that I have experienced tremendous growth during my Pupillage with Thomas Philip is an understatement. The firm looks less at what a Pupil is able to do now, and more towards what the Pupil can learn to do. In my opinion, the dirty little secret of Thomas Philip is the people. Its tightly-knit family of friendly, intelligent and generous individuals makes for a conducive learning environment unlike any other.”
