Career progression since TP?
I leveraged my internship at TP to land a paralegal role at a large commercial firm in Melbourne (Blake Dawson) which then subsequently merged with an English firm (Ashurst). I was fortunate enough to train at Ashurst in 2015 and settled into the insolvency team there. In late 2016 I then moved on to work at Gilbert and Tobin in Sydney doing work with more of a focus on restructuring and have just recently in September 2018 moved across to the Linklaters restructuring team in London.
Personal highlights?
It has been a real privilege to practise in three different cities and to have met some great people along the way. In terms of matters I’ve worked on the restructure of Slater and Gordon in 2017…that was a real career highlight.
Interests beyond the Law?
Tag rugby, skiing, coffee and music.
The future…..?
Loving life in London and getting ready for the European summer. I find restructuring quite interesting and there’s a lot of interesting work to cover in this market.
Reflections on your time in Kuala Lumpur and at Thomas Philip?
Professionally it was a great experience and definitely aided my push for a part time role that then turned into a graduate role at Ashurst. From a personal perspective I had a great time at the firm and with all the other interns that were there at the same time – a real highlight from my university days!
