Where have you been in between?
- 2014-2015: I took a Master’s degree in Law at Lancaster University.
- 2016-2017: I got a scholarship to do a Master’s degree in Law at Nijmegen University, The Netherlands.
Career progression since TP?
I have just started working since August 2017 and so there are not many things to share.
Personal highlights?
Hmm.. I would say I was surprised that I got a job related to international banking law since both of my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are not about this field. Anyway, so far so good….. I do enjoy it.
The future…..?
Who knows the future! Anyway, all I can assure you is that my internship at TP will be on my resume.
Interests away from work?
Fitness-related activities eg, salsa dancing, Argentine tango, yoga. They help with health, energy and managing stress. Also, I like to attend (free) seminars about business and banking issues. They summarise everything for the audience therefore they are great sources to keep myself up-to-date.
Reflections on your time in Kuala Lumpur and at Thomas Philip?
I had a very good internship experience at TP. It was such a growing experience for me. Back then I was just a third year Law student. I did not know what the Law in the real world looked like. Thanks to TP internship programme at least I could take a glimpse of the practice of Law. For instance, I had an opportunity to witness hearings at court.
Another aspect that I learnt from being an intern in a professional environment was that ‘you are on your own’. You cannot say, ‘Well…too difficult to do now. I’ll do it later’. You have to find a way to accomplish your tasks. It taught me to be an adult and to be more responsible. My then mentor, Hisyam, was kind and supportive. So, I got through all the assignments happily. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to intern at TP.
