Internship Dates
September 2009

Where do you call Home?
Melbourne, Australia

Where are you now?
London, UK.

Where have you been in between?
All over the world. I lived in Italy for 6 months as part of Monash University's "Law in Prato" program in 2010, have spent some time in Baker McKenzie's offices in Rio de Janeiro, New York and San Francisco, and now the past 3 years based in London (with almost 5 years based at Baker McKenzie Melbourne in between).

Career progression since TP?
Clerked at a number of top-tier and international law firms in Australia, before starting as a graduate at Baker McKenzie in Melbourne in 2011. Spent almost 5 years in the Melbourne office before transferring to London in late 2015. Currently a Senior Associate specialising in IP, Media and Technology at Baker McKenzie London, primarily advising leading global tech companies on new product development and content regulatory issues and negotiating complex deals in the telco sector. The TP Internship was a great experience to kick-start my career and help me appreciate that Law can be interesting, for which I am very grateful.

Personal highlights?
Career-wise: representing a member of Australia's stolen generation in a potential claim related to her forcible removal from her family and childhood abuse, and advising on the drafting of the Constitution of Yemen - both as part of the Firm's pro bono practice . On a more personal level: proposing at sunset at Top of the Rock in New York in 2017 and getting married in March 2018.

The future…..?
Thinking about a return to Australia to be closer to the family.

Reflections on your time in Kuala Lumpur and at Thomas Philip?
Wonderful experience. Looking back I am still overwhelmed by Mathew's generosity of spirit and openness, he really went the extra mile to make me feel welcome and a part of his world - a rare opportunity especially at such a junior stage in my career.
