Internship Dates:
10th June 2012 – 6th July 2012
Where do you call Home?
I was born in Bhopal and I enjoyed my early childhood there. After obtaining school education in Bhopal I moved to Delhi to pursue my education at the National Law University in 2008.
Where are you now?
I started practicing in New Delhi after graduating from National Law University, Delhi in 2013.
Where have you been in between?
I have been practicing law since 2013. I have my independent practice and office in New Delhi. I am representing clients in various matters before the Honourable Supreme Court of India, and various other High Courts across the country. I am also an empanelled advocate representing Union of India before the Supreme Court.
Career progression since TP?
I am still very much engaged in pursuit of the Law. After completing my internship at TP, I continued my studies at National Law University, Delhi. Once I completed my education I enrolled with the Bar and started my practice under the guidance of Senior Advocate Rebecca Mammen John and learnt the practices of Trial Court and Delhi High Court. She was supportive and encouraged me to take private cases. Once I had learnt the practices of Trial and was confidently conducting trial in private matters I left her chamber and joined the Chamber of Senior Advocate Gopal Subramanium, former Solicitor General of India. Through his guidance I learnt the practices of the Supreme Court of India and other High Courts. Once I was thoroughly aware of these practices, I started conducting cases in Supreme Court of India independently. I opened my own office at New Delhi and started my practice. Apart from my private clients I am also empanelled advocate with the Union of India and Public Sector Banks.
Personal highlights?
Within my short span of practice I have learned how to more clearly recognize and appropriately respond to reality. I have also become a more conscious person and most importantly I have learned how to live an authentically meaningful and basically happy life.
The future…..?
United States Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story in 1829 said “The law is a jealous mistress, and requires a long and constant courtship. She is not to be won by trifling favours, but by lavish homage.” Despite the fact that I have only spent a few years at the Bar I completely agree with his statement and I want to make the best of this journey. I desire to contribute to society and fight for justice.
Reflections on your time in Kuala Lumpur and at Thomas Philip?
I had a wonderful time in KL and it was so great because of TP. TP introduced me to a different work culture and working style. Court visits and conferences made this experience more meaningful. Thanks to TP I was able to interact with lawyers and make friends from different parts of the world. I will always be thankful to TP for giving me that opportunity.
